Western Sahara Algeria voices deep regret over failure to renew MINURSO mandate in Western Sahara

The Algerian government said on Saturday 31 october 2026, that it deeply regrets that the mandate of the UN Mission for the Referendum in Western Sahara (MINURSO) was not renewed, reaffirming its commitment to a just, lasting political solution acceptable to both parties, one that allows the Sahrawi people to exercise their right to self-determination in line with the principles and purposes of the UN Charter and relevant UN resolutions, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement.
