Trans-Saharan Gas Pipeline: a strategic corridor to develop African gas resources and strengthen exchanges with Europe

The Trans-Saharan Gas Pipeline (TSGP) project, linking Nigeria to Algeria via Niger, has gathered accelerated momentum since its revival in 2022. In 2026, it is set to enter a new phase with the commencement of construction works on the Algerian section of this strategic project.

The pipeline, with an estimated total length of approximately 4,130 kilometers, will extend from gas production zones in Nigeria, through Niger, to Hassi R’Mel, recognized as one of Algeria's principal gas hubs. It will then be integrated into the national transmission network as well as existing export infrastructures bound for international markets, most notably in Europe.
