Celebration of the National Remembrance Day

The Algerian Embassy in Nigeria celebrated the National Remembrance Day, coinciding with the 80thanniversary of the massacres of May 8, 1945, during a ceremony held at the Chancery Hall, attended by all Embassy staff.

The ceremonybeganwith the singing of the national anthem, a minute of silence, and the reading of the Fatiha from the Holy Quran. Ambassador Hocine MEZOUED delivered remarks on the occasion, highlighting the historical significance of this emblematic date, which marked a decisive turning point in the outbreak of the glorious war of national liberation.

He recalled on the occasion that the President of the Republic AbdelmadjidTebboune declared the 08 May of each year of National Day of Memory, as strong recognition to the heavy price our people paid to face the barbarity of colonial occupation in order to live freely and with dignity on their land.
