BIOGRAPHY

MEZOUED Hocine

Appointed as the Ambassador of Algeria to the Federal Republic of Nigeria and to ECOWAS in March 2024 (covering Togo and Beninas well), His Excellency Mr Hocine MEZOUED was born in Jijel (Algeria) on June 13th 1969. He graduated it from the University of Algiers, Faculty of Economics, in 1993, and holds a specialized post-graduation degree in finance and banking in 1995.

 

Following a successful experience in the banking sector, he joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in April 2002.

 

His diplomatic career began at the Cabinet of the Minister delegate in charge of Maghreb and African affairs as cabinet attaché, then he joined the Embassy of Algeria in Venezuela as first Secretary from 2005 to 2010.

 

After his return to Algiers in 2010, he got the position of Head of the desk “Mali and Niger” in the department of Africa.

 

In 2013, he was appointed Counselor, in charge of Economic issues, at the Embassy of Algeria in Moscow, where he served for five years till 2018.

 

He retun to Algier’s in 2018. He was promoted Minister plenipotentiary, and appointed Deputy Director in charge of analyses and trade information management (2018-2023), and Director of economic relations and international cooperation at the multilateral department (2023-2024), respectively.

 

Mr MEZOUED is married and father of three children. He speaks Arabic, French, Spanish and English.
