18th Meeting of the AfCFTA Council of Ministers of Trade Convenes in Abuja

Algeria took part in the 18th meeting of the Council of Ministers responsible for Trade of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), held on June 30, 2026, in Abuja, Nigeria. It was represented at this meeting by His Excellency the Ambassador of Algeria to the Federal Republic of Nigeria, accompanied by senior officials from the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Export Promotion.

The ministerial meeting was dedicated to reviewing the recommendations arising from the 22nd meeting of Senior Trade Officials, prior to their submission to the Assembly of Heads of State and Government of the African Union for adoption. The agenda also included assessing the progress made in the ratification of AfCFTA legal instruments, particularly the Phase II protocols, as well as exploring ways and means to accelerate the implementation of this strategic project.
